Since the mid-1990s, Choclair has been an integral part of the Canadian hip-hop scene, dubbed as one of Canada’s pioneers of the genre. With his 4 Juno Awards, 5 MMV A ’s and multiple gold records including his breakout debut album, Ice Cold in 1999, Choclair has set the benchmark for hip-hop in Canada.
Widely known for adding such legendary contributions to the pantheon of Canadian hip-hop masterpieces as “Twenty One Years”, “What It Takes”, “Let’s Ride” and “Rubbin’”, just to name a few, Choclair is also one of the masterminds behind “Northern Touch” – the constantly heralded as Canada’s Hip Hop anthem. Along with Rascalz, Kardinal, Checkmate and Thrust, Choclair celebrated the 20-year anniversary of “Northern Touch” in 2018. It is undoubtedly one of the most important songs in Canada’s music history.
Throughout Choclair’s long-standing career, he has performed on many notable stages across North America. A key performer at such events and venues as JUNOfest, TDOT FEST, Toronto International Film Festival, House of Blues, CNE’s Beer Festival, Juno Awards, Much Music Award, B.E.T and TOM Fashion Week, Choclair is now also taking on the role as actor, producer and sharing his knowledge of the music business with rising artists.
Choclair is currently working on his 5th and most powerful album to date. The long-awaited project aims to be the quintessential album in Choclair’s success-filled career. His uniquely creative style and potent lyrical content has reached a new pinnacle in his songwriting abilities. Combined with his incomparable energy on stage, Choclair continues to prove why he is one of hip-hop’s all-time greats.
